Description
Longtan Air Base, also known as Longcheng Camp, is an active military installation in Taiwan operated by the Republic of China Army Aviation. The facility supports rotary-wing operations tasked with the defense of northern Taiwan.
The installation is garrisoned by approximately 2,124 personnel. It hosts the Army Aviation Special Operations Command's 601st Brigade, which operates under the designation of the Longcheng Force.
Aviation elements stationed at the base operate several types of military helicopters. The 601st Brigade flies AH-64E Apache and AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopters, as well as CH-47SD Chinook heavy-lift transport helicopters.
