Description

Jungwon Air Base, also identified as K-75 or Choongwon Air Base, is located near Chungju in North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. The facility is owned and operated by the Republic of Korea Air Force (RoKAF).

The base hosts the RoKAF 19th Fighter Wing, which comprises four fighter squadrons. The 161st and 162nd Fighter Squadrons operate F-16C/D (Block 32) aircraft. The 155th and 159th Fighter Squadrons fly the KF-16C/D (Block 52) variant.

Training and maintenance activities at the site have included runway repair exercises conducted by United States Air Force personnel in 2009. Recorded aircraft incidents include a hard landing of an F-16 on June 30, 2003, and the crash of an F-16C shortly after takeoff on January 27, 2006. Both incidents resulted in successful pilot ejections.
