Description
Kazlų Rūda Air Base is located 5 km northeast of Kazlų Rūda, Lithuania. Built for military purposes during the Soviet period, construction began in 1975 and the facility opened in 1977. The base was used by the Soviet 7th Guards Mountain Air Assault Division. Infrastructure at the site included a concrete runway and an underground facility that became publicly known in 1993 when Soviet forces left the compound. The base is currently abandoned.
