Description
Kėdainiai is located in Daukšiai, Lithuania, 45 km north of Kaunas. The facility was established during World War II under Soviet control. From September 1958 until 1992, the base hosted the 600th Military Transport Aviation Regiment (600 VTAP), which operated Ilyushin Il-76 and Antonov An-12 transport aircraft. The unit was subordinated to the 3rd Guards, 12th, and 18th Military Transport Aviation Divisions before relocating to Shadrinsk in 1992. In the late 1980s, the base served as the landing site for flights repatriating the remains of Lithuanian victims from Siberia.
Military operations have been retired, and the site is designated as a civilian airport. Current infrastructure includes 28 pads and a hangar for privately owned light aircraft. Civilian aviation utilizes the taxiways for flight operations, while the runways are used for automotive drag and drift racing.
