Description
Monte Real Air Base, officially Air Base No. 5, is a Portuguese Air Force air base at Monte Real in Leiria District. Opened in 1959, it has long served as the main operating base for Portugal's jet fighter force. The base currently hosts the Portuguese Air Force's two F-16 Fighting Falcon squadrons and remains central to national air defense operations.
