Description

Montijo Air Base, officially Air Base No. 6, is a Portuguese military airfield at Montijo in Setúbal District. Built in 1952 on facilities originally developed by the Portuguese Navy, it later became one of the country's main transport and rotary-wing hubs. The base is home to multiple transport squadrons, a helicopter search and rescue squadron, and the Air Force Survival Training Center.
