Description
Raden Sadjad Air Force Base, also designated as Ranai-Natuna Airport or Natuna-Ranai Airport, is located in Ranai Kota, the capital of Natuna Regency on the Natuna archipelago in the Natuna Sea. It functions as a Type B airbase for the Indonesian Air Force and concurrently processes civilian flights.
The Indonesian Air Force stations military personnel at the installation in connection with the South China Sea dispute. Operations address unauthorized entry into Indonesian waters by foreign ships, including fishing vessels from China, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
Base infrastructure features an apron measuring 120 by 60 meters and a taxiway measuring 50 by 32 meters. Support facilities include an Aviation Accidents Rescue and Fire Fighting building, a generator, and a pump house. A 3,868-square-meter passenger terminal was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on 6 October 2016. This structure replaced an earlier 243-square-meter building and accommodates up to 385 passengers daily.
