Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base (Simpang Tiga Airport)

Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base is a Type A military airbase of the Indonesian Air Force located in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia. Named after former Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force Air Chief Marshal Roesmin Nurjadin, the base shares its airfield infrastructure with Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport.

The airfield was established in 1930 by the Dutch colonial government as Simpang Tiga Airfield on land donated by the Sultan of Siak. Prior to World War II, it served commercial routes and operated as a base for the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force. Imperial Japanese forces seized the installation during World War II, deploying Imperial Japanese Army Air Service aircraft to conduct aerial patrols over the Strait of Malacca. Following the surrender of Japan, Indonesian Republican forces assumed control of the site and maintained possession during armed conflicts with Dutch forces in July 1946.

The airbase is operated by the Indonesian Air Force. It hosts two flying units: the 12th Air Squadron, which operates BAe Hawk Mk. 109 and Mk. 209 aircraft, and the 16th Air Squadron, which operates F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters.

Facilities at the base include shared runway and taxiway systems, aircraft aprons, an air traffic control tower, and a dedicated VIP terminal alongside civilian passenger infrastructure.
