Description
SLAF Base Anuradhapura is a military airbase and dual-use domestic airport located 4.6 kilometres southeast of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. The facility was established in 1960 under the direction of Nissanka Wijeyeratne, then Government Agent of the Anuradhapura District, and was opened by Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike.
The base is operated by the Sri Lanka Air Force and hosts No. 6 Helicopter Squadron. In addition to military operations, the airfield handles civilian domestic charter flights to Colombo–Ratmalana operated by Air Senok, FitsAir, and Helitours.
