A Russian drone crossed into Romanian airspace at around 00:20 near Vylkove, penetrated eight kilometres to Periprava and Chilia Veche, returned to Ukrainian airspace, then entered Moldova over the autonomous region of Gagauzia and flew across the village of Colibași before re-entering Romania near Oancea shortly before 01:00. Four fighters — two Romanian, two German — were scrambled to intercept it, but the drone's signal was lost and its fate was never established. Romanian authorities searched for possible impact zones.
An Italian Eurofighter on NATO Baltic Air Policing duty destroyed an unidentified drone over eastern Latvia before dawn on 14 August, the second time the alliance's quick-reaction force has shot one down over the country this year.
