Guyana Defence Force Air Command

The Guyana Air Force is the aerial warfare branch of the Guyana Defence Force. It was formally established on April 1, 1968. The primary role of the Guyana Air Force is to conduct air defense operations and provide air support to the Guyana Defence Force in fulfilling its missions. The Air Force operates a small fleet of aircraft, consisting mainly of helicopters and light fixed-wing aircraft. Its current inventory includes helicopters such as the Bell 206, Bell 412, and Mi-8, as well as fixed-wing aircraft such as the Cessna 206 and Britten-Norman Islander. The Guyana Air Force plays a vital role in supporting national security and providing disaster relief efforts within Guyana. It also conducts regular joint exercises and training with regional and international partners. Throughout its history, the Guyana Air Force has worked to maintain a capable and effective force to safeguard the country's airspace and support ground operations.
