Description
Konarak stands on Chabahar Bay on Iran's south-eastern coast, near the Pakistani border. It is the headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy's 3rd Naval District, which is responsible for the Gulf of Oman, and the base of the navy's 3rd Marine Brigade. Because it lies outside the Strait of Hormuz, it gives the fleet access to the open ocean without transiting the strait. Its naval assets were struck on 28 February and 5 March 2026.
