BAF Base Bashar (Tejgaon Airport)

BAF Base Bashar, also known as Tejgaon Airport, is a Bangladesh Air Force military installation located in Tejgaon, Dhaka. Construction of the facility began in 1941 under British administration to support operations during the Second World War for the Battle of Kohima and Burmese theater threats. The British Royal Air Force utilized the airfield for aircraft maintenance and storage, and the United States Air Force maintained a detachment at the site. The first Royal Indian Air Force light fighter landed at the airfield in early 1943.

Following the 1947 Partition of British India, the airfield became a Pakistan Air Force station and the primary civil aviation airport for East Pakistan. On 1 March 1954, No. 14 Squadron PAF was assigned to the station, remaining the sole Pakistani squadron stationed in East Pakistan during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. The airfield functioned as Bangladesh's sole international airport until commercial flights were transferred to the newly constructed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in 1981, at which point the Bangladesh Air Force assumed control of the base.

The base is operated by the Bangladesh Air Force and is also utilized by the Bangladesh Army. The facility includes the National Parade Square of Bangladesh, which hosts armed forces parades and military equipment exhibitions. Bangladesh Air Force aircraft hosted at the base include F-7MB and A-5C planes.
