BAF Station Shamshernagar (BAF Station Moulvibazar)

BAF Station Shamshernagar, also known as BAF Station Moulvibazar, is a Bangladesh Air Force installation located 17 kilometers southeast of Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. It is one of nine air bases operated by the Bangladesh Air Force. Civil air operations are permitted at the airfield with prior approval, though no scheduled commercial airlines currently serve the facility. Operational capabilities at the airfield are restricted to short takeoff and landing aircraft.

During World War II, the site served as an airfield for Allied airlift operations between British India and China. The United States military stockpiled material at the installation, and the U.S. 61st Air Service Group was stationed at the base in the final months of the conflict. During the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, the installation hosted Kilo Force, the initial combat element of the Bangladesh Air Force. The unit operated a fleet consisting of a DC-3 Dakota transport, a DHC-3 Otter utility aircraft, and an Alouette III helicopter.
