Description
Brody Air Base is a Ukrainian Army Aviation facility located near Brody in Lviv Oblast, Ukraine. From August 1945 to April 1981, the installation hosted the 807th Assault Aviation Regiment. This unit was redesignated as the 807th Fighter-Bomber Aviation Regiment in 1956 and later reorganized into the 55th Independent Helicopter Regiment in 1961. Between 1981 and 1992, the Soviet Union's 119th Independent Helicopter Regiment, a component of the 13th Army, operated from the facility.
The base is currently an active military installation operated by the Ukrainian Ground Forces. It hosts the 16th Separate Army Aviation Brigade. This unit operates Mil Mi-8, Mil Mi-9, and Mil Mi-24 rotary-wing aircraft.
