Description

El Minya Air Base is located west of Minya in the Minya Governorate, Egypt. The Egyptian Air Force operates the facility, which was developed in the 1950s when a concrete runway was constructed over the site of an earlier airfield. This project included the installation of a parallel taxiway on the east side and six hardstands.

The base hosts the 201 Air Wing of the Egyptian Air Academy, which includes the Silver Stars demonstration team flying the Karakorum-8E. The facility also houses the 308 Close Air Support Tactical Wing of the 139 Air Division. This wing consists of the 57 and 58 Squadrons, which operate Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet MS1/2 aircraft. Infrastructure at the base includes taxiways and hardstands configured to support these assigned units.
