Description
Mersa Matruh Air Base is a military airfield at Marsa Matrouh, on the Mediterranean coast of northwestern Egypt. It may share its site with Marsa Matruh International Airport (IATA: MUH, ICAO: HEMM), formerly Mersa Matruh Airport, a public airport operated by the Egyptian government that handles scheduled and charter traffic.
The Egyptian Air Force's 102nd Tactical Fighter Brigade is based at Mersa Matruh. Its component units include 26 Squadron, which flies the Chengdu F-7 fighter and the FT-7 two-seat trainer, and a detachment of 82 Squadron, which operates the Dassault Mirage 2000BM and Mirage 2000EM.
The airfield has two asphalt runways.
