ACV-15

The ACV-15 is an amphibious tracked infantry fighting vehicle family developed by Turkish defense manufacturer FNSS Savunma Sistemleri A.Ş. Designed to meet operational requirements for the Turkish Land Forces Command, the vehicle combines the roles of an infantry fighting vehicle and an armored personnel carrier. Its design derives from the Dutch YPR-765 and the American Advanced Infantry Fighting Vehicle, which evolved from the M113A1 armored personnel carrier chassis. Production deliveries of the ACV-15 began in 1992.

The vehicle is fully amphibious and propelled in water by its tracks. Hull armor provides protection against armor-piercing rounds up to 14.5×114mm. Standard vehicle systems include nuclear, biological, and chemical protection, passive night vision equipment, and smoke grenade launchers. The hull includes firing ports that permit onboard infantry to fire personal weapons from inside the troop compartment.

Primary armament varies by role and variant configuration. Standard infantry fighting vehicle variants mount a one-person power-operated turret—such as the FNSS Sharpshooter, FMC EWS, or Giat Dragar—armed with a 25mm cannon and a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun. The Advanced Armored Personnel Carrier variant features a one-man turret with a 12.7mm machine gun and a 7.62mm machine gun. Specialized configurations include the Armored Tow Vehicle equipped with a one-man turret carrying two BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missile launchers, an Armored Mortar Vehicle carrying an 81mm mortar, and an experimental variant fitted with a BMP-3 turret featuring a 100mm gun and anti-tank missile launcher.

The base ACV-15 is operated by Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. Turkish forces deployed the vehicle on international missions, including the United Nations Operation in Somalia II and peacekeeping operations in Bosnia. The vehicle has seen combat in the Kurdish–Turkish conflict and during the Turkish military intervention in Syria, including Operation Euphrates Shield against ISIL and YPG forces, where vehicles were also provided to Free Syrian Army forces. ACV-15 vehicles were also deployed during the Libyan Civil War in the Tripoli offensive.
