Patria 6×6

The Patria 6×6, also designated XA-300, is an armored personnel carrier developed by Finnish defense manufacturer Patria. Built using chassis structures and components from the Patria AMVXP, the vehicle was designed primarily for troop transport with an expected service life exceeding 30 years. Patria launched the platform at the Eurosatory exhibition in June 2018, later exhibiting a 120 mm Patria Nemo turreted mortar variant at DSEi 2019 and a Heavy Armoured Personnel Carrier variant equipped with a 25 mm remote weapon system at DSEi 2021. In early 2020, Finland, Estonia, and Latvia established the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) joint development programme centered on the platform, though Estonia later withdrew. Sweden and Germany joined the CAVS programme in 2022, followed by Norway and the United Kingdom in September 2025.

The internal layout places the driver and commander at the front, the engine compartment behind the driver, and the troop compartment at the rear. A passage on the right side allows movement between the front and rear sections. The platform supports modular tailoring and optional additions, including a swimming system, recovery winch, upgraded armor protection, and various weapon mountings. Armament choices extend from light or heavy machine guns to 25/30 mm medium-caliber direct-fire cannons and the Patria Nemo 120 mm turreted mortar. Production configurations encompass armored personnel transport, command and control, medical transport, armored reconnaissance, engineer group transport, and fire control variants.

The Patria 6×6 is deployed by several European armed forces. Finland received pre-series vehicles for military evaluation in 2022 prior to issuing serial procurement contracts. Latvia took initial deliveries in October 2021 and established domestic assembly at a manufacturing facility in Valmiera. Sweden adopted the vehicle under the service designation Pansarterrängbil 300, while Germany selected the platform as the TPz NG to succeed its TPz Fuchs fleet. Danish Army variants utilize an M18 ring turret fitted with an M2 Browning machine gun and four smoke-grenade dischargers per side. Ukraine also operates the vehicle through procurement contracts and foreign transfers funded by Latvia.
