Description

Pau-Pyrénées, also known as Pau-Uzein, is a dual-use military and civil airport located 10 kilometers northwest of Pau in Uzein, within the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department of France. The wider airfield accommodates regular scheduled airline flights, while military operations are concentrated in dedicated facilities.

The military installations are operated by the French Army Light Aviation and are situated on the south side of the airfield. The base hosts the 4th Special Forces Helicopter Regiment (4e régiment d'hélicoptères des forces spéciales) and the 5th Combat Helicopter Regiment (5e régiment d'hélicoptères de combat). The site is also utilized for French Army paratrooper training operations.

Rotary-wing aircraft based at the facility include H225M (EC725) Caracal helicopters operated by the 4th Special Forces Helicopter Regiment, and EC665 Tiger helicopters operated by the 5th Combat Helicopter Regiment.
