Description
Kulbakine is a Ukrainian Air Force base located near Mykolaiv in the Mykolaiv Oblast. The facility houses the 299th Tactical Aviation Brigade, which operates Sukhoi Su-25 ground-attack aircraft and Aero L-39C and L-39M Albatros trainers.
On 24 February 2022, Russian aircraft bombarded the installation’s runway, fuel depots, and ammunition storage areas during the initial phase of the Russian invasion. Russian ground forces entered the base on 4 March 2022, but Ukrainian forces recaptured the site at 17:30 later that day.
