Description
Chuhuiv Air Base is a Ukrainian Air Force installation located near Chuhuiv in Kharkiv Oblast. The site has maintained a military presence since 1638, when Ukrainian Cossacks constructed a fort adjacent to the city. During the Soviet period, the base functioned as a military training center, hosting the Soviet Air Force Pilot Academy and the Red Army Artillery School. In February 2022, the facility was the target of an air strike during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The base is operated by the Ukrainian Air Force. Infrastructure includes fuel storage areas and facilities for S-300 air defense systems. The installation is capable of housing Baykar Bayraktar TB2 drones and operates MiG-29 fighters and L-39 jet trainers.
