Description
Kurdamir Air Base is a military installation located in Kurdamir, the capital of the Kurdamir District in Azerbaijan.
During the late 1980s, the facility was operated by the Soviet Air Forces as part of the 34th Air Army. The base hosted the 976th Bomber Aviation Regiment Insterburgsky, a unit descended from the World War II-era 976th Fighter Aviation Regiment. While stationed at Kurdamir, the regiment flew Sukhoi Su-24 and Sukhoi Su-17 aircraft.
The base is owned by the Republic of Azerbaijan and occupied by the Azerbaijani Air Defense Force.
