Rheine-Bentlage Air Base (Heeresflugplatz Rheine-Bentlage / Theodor-Blank-Kaserne)

Rheine-Bentlage Air Base (Heeresflugplatz Rheine-Bentlage), also known as Theodor Blank Barracks, was located near the village of Bentlage, two kilometers northwest of Rheine in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Construction of the facility began in 1939 for the Luftwaffe and concluded in 1940. During World War II, the installation operated night and day fighter squadrons. The base was abandoned following the war.

In 1960, the site was rebuilt for the newly formed German Army Aviation Corps. The reconstructed infrastructure included military installations, hangars, and an asphalt runway. The facility was officially named Theodor Blank Barracks in 1975. Following German reunification in 1990, stationed units deployed to the Balkans, Iraq, and Afghanistan under NATO, United Nations, and European Union mandates.

Initially, German Army Aviation Corps units at the base operated Sikorsky H-34 and Alouette II helicopters. In 1974, Sikorsky CH-53 helicopters replaced the H-34 fleet, operating alongside Bo 105VBH helicopters. In 2003, all aviation units at Rheine-Bentlage were consolidated into Army Aviation Medium Transport Regiment 15, part of the Airmobile Operations Division. The regiment received the honorary name "Münsterland" in 2004.

Following a restructuring of the German Armed Forces, Army Aviation Medium Transport Regiment 15 and its auxiliary units disbanded on December 31, 2012. The base's helicopter inventory was either decommissioned or transferred to Helicopter Wing 64 at Laupheim Air Base and Holzdorf Air Base. Remaining personnel were reassigned to the defense depot. The installation formally closed as an active military air base on December 31, 2017, when the last military personnel departed. Following the closure, portions of the facility transitioned to use by the amateur Aeroclub Rheine and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (Technisches Hilfswerk).
