Description
Yongzhou Lingling Airport is a dual-use military and civil facility located in Lengshuitan District, 8.8 kilometers from the city center of Yongzhou in Hunan Province, China. Situated inland from the coastal fleet areas, the airfield was originally constructed in 1938 for military use and subsequently underwent multiple expansions.
In August 1996, the People's Liberation Army Navy Aviation Command signed a civil-military dual-use agreement with the Yongzhou municipal government. Commercial aviation operations commenced in 2001, ceased in October 2005, and resumed in January 2008. As of 2023, the civil aviation component supports scheduled service from two airlines connecting three cities.
Military operations at the facility are managed by the People's Liberation Army Navy Air Force. The installation is one of two seats for the 3rd Naval Aviation Division. This division operates special-mission variants of the Y-8 and Y-9 aircraft configured for anti-submarine warfare, electronic warfare, and airborne early warning missions.
