King Faisal Air Base

Description

H-4 Air Base is a Royal Jordanian Air Force installation located near Ruwaished in Mafraq Governorate, Jordan. The airfield was built between 1932 and 1934 by the Iraq Petroleum Company to support the H4 oil pumping station along the Kirkuk–Haifa oil pipeline in the Emirate of Transjordan. During World War II, the Royal Air Force used the base as an Advanced Headquarters for operations during the Anglo-Iraqi War in May 1941.

The facility is operated by the Royal Jordanian Air Force. Hosted aircraft include AH-1F Cobras assigned to the 10th and 12th Squadrons, a Cessna 208B Caravan operating with the 15th Squadron, and Air Tractor 802i aircraft assigned to the 25th Squadron. United States forces deployed MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles to the installation between November 2014 and January 2015.
