Description
Al-Dumayr Air Base is a Syrian Air Force installation located in Al-Dumayr, Rif Dimashq Governorate, 40 kilometers northeast of Damascus, Syria. The facility is owned by the Syrian Armed Forces.
During the Syrian Civil War, the installation was used by the Syrian Arab Air Force and the Iranian Armed Forces, including operations supporting the military campaign in Eastern Ghouta. On 22 February 2018, the insurgent group Jaysh al-Islam bombarded the base with rockets to counter attacks on the rebel-held enclave. On 21 June 2022, four Syrian soldiers were killed near the airbase in an attack by Islamic State fighters. During the fall of Damascus, the group Burkan al-Furat seized the airbase from Ba'athist regime forces.
