Iswahjudi Air Force Base (Maospati Air Base)

Iswahjudi Air Force Base is a Type A military installation operated by the Indonesian Air Force, located in Maospati, Magetan Regency, East Java. Controlled under Air Operations Command II of the National Air Operations Command, the facility functions as a primary base for several fighter squadrons.

Established in 1939 by the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force as Maospati Air Base, initial construction included three aircraft hangars, a workshop, a montage facility, warehouses, and barracks. The base opened in May 1940, hosting Dutch fighter and training squadrons operating Curtiss 75A-7 Hawks, Curtiss-Wright CW-21B Interceptors, and Brewster F2A Buffalos. Following the Dutch surrender in March 1942, the Imperial Japanese Navy assumed control of the site, using it primarily for aircraft spare parts storage.

Indonesian forces took control of the airfield in August 1945, and it was officially integrated into the Indonesian Air Force on May 5, 1946. It was renamed Iswahjudi Air Force Base on November 4, 1960, and functioned as a main air base during the Western New Guinea conflict.

The base hosts the 32nd Air Wing under the 3rd Group, which comprises the 3rd Air Squadron, 14th Air Squadron, and 15th Air Squadron. Other resident units include the 042nd Engineering Squadron, the 476th Air Defense Detachment, the 463rd Commando Battalion, and the Iswahjudi Air Force Base Military Police Unit. Operational infrastructure and associated external sites include the Dr. Efram Harsana Air Force Hospital, the Pulung Air Weapon Range in Ponorogo Regency, and the Pacitan Detachment.
