Description
Diyarbakır Air Base is a Turkish Air Force installation located in Diyarbakır, Turkey. The base hosts the 8th Air Wing (8. Ana Jet Üs) of the 2nd Air Force Command. This command also includes wings stationed at Merzifon, Malatya Erhaç, and İncirlik. The installation functions as both a military airbase and a public airport. Between June 1 and September 1, 2012, the base closed for renovation, during which period air traffic was diverted to Batman, Mardin, and Elazığ. In 2012, the property was the subject of a legal land ownership claim filed by Zuart Sudjian, which proceeded to the Court of Cassation following a local court rejection.
