Description
The 94th Helicopter Air Base is located in Alexeni, Ialomița County. Developed in the mid-1950s into a major base, it became the home of the Regimentul 94 Elicoptere in 1965. The Romanian-made IAR-93 was first presented at this facility. The base hosted various helicopters operated by the Romanian Air Force. It was eventually disbanded in 2001 during force restructuring, with Mi-8 helicopters being redistributed or retired. The airfield has since remained inactive.
