Description
The 95th Air Base "Căpitan Aviator Alexandru Șerbănescu" is located 5 km south of Bacău, Romania. The facility opened in 1946, with construction of a control tower and terminal infrastructure occurring between 1970 and 1971. The site attained international status in 1975. A modernization program initiated in 2014 resulted in the refurbishment of the runway and the construction of a new control tower, which was completed in 2017.
The Romanian Air Force operates the installation, which hosts the 951st Advanced Air Training Squadron and the 952nd Helicopter Squadron. The 951st Advanced Air Training Squadron operates IAR 99 Șoim aircraft. The 952nd Helicopter Squadron operates IAR 330L and IAR 330 SOCAT helicopters.
The 95th Air Base shares its runway and site facilities with George Enescu International Airport and Aerostar, a Romanian aerospace and defense company.
