RMAF Kuching

RMAF Kuching is a Royal Malaysian Air Force base located in Kuching, Sarawak, East Malaysia, co-located with Kuching International Airport.

The British Royal Air Force established the base in 1964 during the Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation. In August 1966, the Royal Malaysian Air Force established a detachment of 20 personnel at the site to assist the RAF, deploying one Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer aircraft and four Aérospatiale Alouette III helicopters. The RAF transferred control of the facility to the Royal Malaysian Air Force following the withdrawal of British units, and the base was officially inaugurated under Malaysian control in 1967. Base operations subsequently expanded with the arrival of de Havilland Canada DHC-4 Caribou transport aircraft and Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King helicopters, alongside the formation of additional squadrons at the site.
