Description
RMAF Subang is a Royal Malaysian Air Force airbase located in Shah Alam, Petaling District, Selangor, in Peninsular Malaysia. The base was officially established in 1985 under the Ministry of Defence to conduct tactical airlift and maritime operations. It shares runway facilities with the adjacent civilian Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.
The airbase is operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force and serves as the home base for No. 8 Squadron, which operates transport aircraft, as well as units of PASKAU special forces. RMAF Subang functions as an operational site for tactical airlift, government VIP transport, and maritime surveillance.
Aircraft operating from RMAF Subang include tactical transports such as the Airbus A400M Atlas, Lockheed C-130 Hercules, and CASA/IPTN CN-235. Maritime patrol operations are conducted using Beechcraft Super King Air aircraft. VIP transport units based at the facility operate Boeing 737, Airbus A319, Dassault Falcon 900, and Bombardier Global Express aircraft. Rotary-wing assets stationed at the airbase include Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
