Description
Kacha Air Base is a military installation located in Kacha, Sevastopol, in Russian-occupied Crimea, internationally recognized as part of Ukraine. The facility is situated 10 kilometers north of Belbek Air Base. Established in 1945, the base historically housed the 53rd Fighter Aviation Regiment from 1945 to 1946 and the 306th Fighter Aviation Regiment from 1945 to 1947. Between 1981 and 2009, the 859th Training Center for Naval Aviation operated from the installation.
Currently operated by Russian Naval Aviation as part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the base hosts the 318th Independent Composite Aviation Regiment and the 25th Independent Shipborne Anti-submarine Helicopter Regiment. The 318th Independent Composite Aviation Regiment operates Antonov An-26KPA transports, Tupolev Tu-134A aircraft, and Beriev Be-12 amphibians configured as anti-submarine warfare platforms. The 25th Independent Shipborne Anti-submarine Helicopter Regiment operates Kamov Ka-27, Kamov Ka-29, and Mil Mi-8 helicopters.
