Overview
The Azerbaijani Land Forces, operating under the Ministry of Defence, are organized into five army corps: the 1st Army Corps based at Barda, the 2nd Army Corps at Beylagan, the 3rd Army Corps at Shamkir, the 4th Army Corps at Baku, and the 5th Army Corps constituted as the Nakhchivan Combined Arms Army. Modernization programs center on upgrading Soviet-era armor, replacing legacy artillery, and integrating NATO-compatible command-and-control procedures.
